ACHS Academic Team Wins Big at JV Challenge

The ACHS Academic Team won 1st Place overall in Section 8 of the JV Challenge Championships on Saturday, November 6, 2022. Teams from across the region of Metcalfe County, Casey County, and all of the Somerset area schools competed for the top prize, and Adair County came out on top.

The team had six students place in individual events at the event. Sophomore Bailey Watts finished in 1st Place in both Arts and Humanities and Language Arts. In another impressive feat, over 200 students competed at the event statewide, and Bailey Watts was 3rd overall in the state.

Sophomores Tristin Andrews, Trevir Andrews, and Joseph Kotter all earned medals in the Science category. Tristin won the championship in the event while his brother Trevir finished right behind in 2nd Place. Kotter earned the 4th Place medal in the event, helping Adair dominate the category and clench that overall championship in the process.

Composition competed earlier in the week, and after the evaluators completed their scores, the results on Saturday revealed that Mia Schneider captured 4th Place and Trina Nguyen took home 5th Place in the event.

Adair County has now won back-to-back Section 8 Championships since in-person competition has resumed following the pandemic.
