Columbia City Council Agenda regular meeting, October 3, 2005 Click here for account of the meeting P&Z recommendations, resolution on resolution affecting Charter Cable, and possible excitement in Citizen's Comments, Mayor, Council Announcements, may make City Council meeting a lively one. Meeting open to the public The Columbia City Council will consider a 11-item agenda tonight, which promises to be exciting. The Council will consider the Planning and Zoning Boards recommendation to deny a rezoning change for property at the southwest corner of Burkesville ST and Frazier Avenue, but to allow the rezoning of the property on the west side of Greensburg ST at the northeast corner of Greensburg and Marshall Streets. That latter change is necessary to accommodate a proposed new dry-cleaning business, but the move is opposed by the other property owner. See article, photos of property, for which zoning changes sought In Item 8, "City Attorney Read Resolution No. 2005-12," a resolution will be introduced which will levy fines of $100 per day for non-compliance with the City's franchise agreement with Charter Tv. City Clerk Carolyn Edwards said that the City's agreement with Charter comes up for renewal in August 2006, and that the city's cable consultant, Linda Ain, has identified a number of areas in which she, Linda Ain, believes Charter is not in compliance. These have to do mainly with making stereo signals available on the cable when they are available to Charter, and, more importantly, in the availability of emergency alerts, which the City needs in case of disasters or or other emergencies. The meeting is open to the public.
