Luther Owen Frankum, 86, Fairplay Mason

Services will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at 2pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home for Luther Owen Frankum of the Fairplay community. He passed away Saturday at his home after a short illness.

He was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ in Campbellsville, a member of Morrison Lodge #76 in Elizabethtown and was a farmer and retired construction worker who worked on projects including the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center, Wolf Creek Dam and Fort Knox.

He was the son of the late Martin Lee and Mary Ethel Loy Frankum of Adair County.
  • He is survived by his wife, Dessie Page Frankum of Fairplay, KY

  • One son, Glen Frankum and his wife Laura of Eastview, KY

  • Two daughters: Wanda Greene and her husband Ronald of Louisville, and Rebecca Grant and her husband Donnie of Campbellsville

  • Two brothers: Paul Frankum and Delphus Frankum, both of Fairplay

  • Two sisters: Helen Thomas of Bardstown and Lena Wheatley of Madisonville

  • Four grandchildren: Glenn David Frankum II, Cheryl Ann Frankum, Matthew Grant and Andrew Grant.

  • Seven great grandchildren.

  • He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Ores, Buell Hogard and Samuel Elbert Frankum, and by one sister Doris Kassem.

Minister Jim Collins will officiate at the Tuesday afternoon service with interment in Haven Hill Cemetery.

The family requjests visitation after 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Masonic rites will be conducted on Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
