Picnic enjoyed at Veterans Memorial Park

The Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce annual September picnic was held Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the Veterans Memorial Park (formerly the Roadside Park), on Hwy 55 South, Columbia, KY.

The local financial institutions - Bank of Columbia, Community Trust Bank, First and Farmers National Bank and United Citizens Bank - were the official sponsors providing barbecue and fixings catered by Paula Miller. The fundraiser auction was led by Dr. Ronald Rogers and Ellen Zornes.

Veterans Memorial Park on Hwy 55 South

The City of Columbia Veterans Memorial Park (formerly the Roadside Park) on Hwy 55 South is a good place for comfortable gatherings. There’s plenty of shade for walking and picnicking in covered meeting areas, plus restrooms and playground equipment for children. This picture was taken as folks were coming in before the annual Chamber of Commerce picnic began Tuesday evening, September 13, 2022.

Wonderful job as volunteer auctioneer

Rev. Bobby Bowe, at left, made the winning bid for the fire pit at the annual Columbia Adair Chamber of Commerce picnic and auction Tuesday. It was presented by Dr. Ronald "Butch" Rogers. Chamber Executive Director Ellen Zornes said, "Butch is a long time member, Board member and volunteer for our Chamber of Commerce. He is always up for anything asked of him . . . even auctioneering. He did a wonderful job and kept us highly entertained."

Another Chamber of Commerce September picnic and fundraiser auction wrapped up just after sunset Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the Veterans Memorial Park in Columbia. Taking care of paperwork was the last chore of the evening, handled by Treasurer Cindy Turner, at left, and Executive Director Ellen Zornes, at right. Standing is Sulayne Grider with Reed Brothers Insurance checking to make sure bids were all completed.
