Cliff Roach, 58, Vietnam War veteran, dies

Clifford "Cliff" Roach, 58, 700 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, passed away suddenly Thursday, September 8, 205, at his home.

Mr. Roach was a Veteran of the Vietam War and served two tours there as a United States Marine. He was a popular postal worker at the Columbia Post Office and a member of the Adair County Rescue Squad. He attended the Higher Praise Church.

The funeral service will be Monday, September 12, 2005, at 1:00 p.m., at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. David Hansel and Bro. Eric Gilbert officiating.


Mr. Roach is survived by his father, Clemon Roach, Camden, TN, and was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Pearl Brock Elmore, Adair County, KY.

He is survived by the following:
  • Chris Roach and his close friend, Lisa King, OH, TN

  • His former wife: Joyce Roach, Somerset, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Kalob Roach and Haley Roach

  • One brother: Jeff Johnson, Mary Anna, FL

  • His father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell and Ruth Garmon, Columbia, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Interment will be in Tarter Chapel Cemetery in Milltown with Military Honors by the local VFW Post 6097.

Visitation will be after 2:30 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2005, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home , Columbia, KY.

Mr. Roach was in the United States Marine Corps and served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He was a well-known mail carrier working out of the Columbia Post Office.
