Phillip Coffey: My Mother's Day

My Mother's Day by Phillip Coffey
The Fushia blooms of the flowers in the garden - easy to get used to.
The dampness of the breathed freshness emitted from the trees - amusing
As thoughts of the scene observed, as I approach the steps of life-giving Mother.
Her smile and laughter transparent with mirth and love held openly together.

Mother's Day quickly approaching - eighty years ago, Mother and Father eloping.
Her Strict father's loss of a house-keeping surrogate wife mostly just chatter.
Mom seventeen when Dad in Infantry training, reality not at all tainted.
Marching through all with four children upbringing - none of it disclaiming.
