ACHS Class of 1971 Reunion By Debbie Peppers On April 16, 2022, 28 Adair County High School classmates met at Swans Landing for their 51st class reunion. 28 classmates showed up out of 39 who had registered. Everyone enjoyed catching up with each other before and after the meal. A short program included reading the list of classmates who had died, and taking a moment to remember them. Out of a graduating class of 171, 32 classmates have passed away with 12 of them in the past four years. Next, Phillip Coffey read a poem that he had written, and Marsha Bragg Grant read a poem about people going to class reunions. Each classmate received a booklet with the program printed from the Baccalaureate and graduation. The booklet also contained a section from the Smoke Signals newspaper which included the students who had the characteristics of the perfect senior girl and boy. Also, printed were lists of the top 10 movies of 1971, the top 10 songs, the most popular TV shows, popular fashions for the year, the top 10 country songs, sports champions for the year, popular musicians, costs of items in 1971, and four events from that year. At the end of the booklet were 62 trivia questions about classmates, events, and other activities with the answers included. The most recent addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses were printed at the back of the booklet. Steve Hill and Billy Pickett also brought their vintage cars to the reunion. A photo booth area was set up for classmates to use. Plans for another reunion in another four years will be less formal. This story was posted on 2022-04-21 20:51:44
