Fire Department expects new ladder truck August 19, 2005
When the City Council voted to approve the purchase by the Columbia-Adair County Fire Department of a $747,065 ladder truck, Mayor Patrick R. Bell said, "This is a great day for Columbia." Another great day is expected to occur next Friday evening, August 19, when the new ladder truck is expected to be delivered in Columbia. The fire department will undergo Sutphen Company training over the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, August 20 and 21. On Monday, August 22, the truck is expected to be in service. Sometime in October there will be an open house to show off the newly renovated fire house, the new ladder truck, and other fire fighting equipment. The date is yet to be announced.
