Slogan contest finalists to be announced August 19 at Roadside Park
State Senator Vernie McGaha will be in attendance to present a $9,600 check to City of Columbia for playground equipment for the park. "It's been a tough process," Mr. Phelps said. "We've been amazed at the talent and creativity most of the entrants haveshown. It's hard to pick from so many really great ideas." The review board has five members. Besides Mr. Phelps, it includes Columbia Mayor Patrick Bell, Lindsey Wilson College Public Relations Director Duane Bonifer, Adair County High School 2005 Valedictorian Courtney Gentry, and the President of the Adair County Retired Teachers Association, Joyce Durham. After the final three slogans are presented, the public will be invited to vote to select the slogan which will be used on promotional material. All three writers of the final three slogans are prize winners. The writer of the winning slogan will receive $500; second place will receive $300; and third place will receive $200. The winner will likely be announced two weeks after the voting begins, President Phelps said. Click here for related story This story was posted on 2005-08-10 10:52:42
