Janet Janes, 70, Adair Co., KY native (1951-2022)

Janet Sue Absher Janes of Campbellsville passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at her home. She was 70 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 10amCT on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Roy Phillips and Bro. Victor Matney officiating. Burial will follow in Tarter's Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 5pmCT on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home.


She was born May 13, 1951 in Adair County to the late James Absher and Martha Corbin Absher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Janes and a granddaughter, Alaina Kay Adams. Janet was a member of Pollard's Chapel Church and a former employee of Fruit of the Loom where she retired in 1998 and was an employee of Learning Tree Daycare as a cook.

Survivors include:
  • Two daughters - Angie Adams (Mark) of Campbellsville, Ky and Schella Pittman (David) of Georgetown, Ky
  • Three brothers - James Jr. Absher and Joe Absher (Sue) both of Tennessee and Archie Absher (Beverly) of Campbellsville, Ky
  • One sister - Emma Jewell (Don) of Glasgow, Ky
  • Four granddaughters - Kayla Adams Green (Toby), Danielle Adams Robinson (Matt), Shelby Pittman and Cali Pittman
  • One great-grandchild due in October, 2022
  • Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
