Twenty kids at S.A.'s Paradise Valley Camp on Dale Hollow Lake

By Ellen Zornes
Thanks to our community's monetary support, twenty Adair County youth who wouldotherwise not be able to attend a camp, were able to attend the Salvation Army'sParadise Valley Camp located on Dale Hollow Lake in Cumberland County. While at camp, they participated in activities including swimming and swimming classes, boating andhiking as well as other recreational and craft activities. Since Salvation Army is afaith based, non denominational Christian organization, Bible classes and worshipservices are also part of the camping experience.

The Salvation Army is a nationally recognized, non-denominational Christian charitableorganization. Locally our focus is meeting the needs of our community through variousprograms such as summer camp, Angel Tree, Christmas Kettles, welfare assistance anddisaster relief assistance. The Adair County Unit meets the first Wednesday of eachmonth at 9:00 a.m. in the basement of the Courthouse Annex.

If you would like to make a contribution to the Salvation Army, it is always needed andgreatly appreciated. To find out more about the Salvation Army and ways you can beinvolved, please contact this year's chairperson, Lisa Rucker, at 384-6050.
