Delpha Eugenia Shirley, 83, Edmonton, KY (1938-2022)

Delpha Eugenia Shirley of Edmonton passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Metcalfe Health Care. She was 83 years old.

Funeral services for Delphia Shirley will be held at 11amCT on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East St., Edmonton, KY, with burial to follow in the Hubbard Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4pmCT until 8pmCT on Tuesday, and will continue after 9amCT on Wednesday at the funeral home.


She was born September 25, 1938, the daughter of the late John Will Shirley, Jr. and Ella Mae Hamilton Shirley. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sons. Russell Howard and Jeffery Dale Shirley. Two grandchildren, Candi Marie Shirley and Heather Bragg. A great grandson, Tuff Creek. Sister, Emma Lucille Shirley, son in law Verlon Grissom and a special friend Leroy Kelly.

Delphia was a retired cook and member of the Hillside Baptist Church.

She enjoyed reading, crocheting, puzzles and most of all her grandchildren.

Delphia is survived by six children. Joyce Grissom of Knob Lick. Billy Dewayne Shirley of Edmonton. Sandy (Kenneth) Froedge of Edmonton, Lisa (JD) Bragg of Glasgow. Tracy (Lisa) Shirley and Mark (Cynthia) Shirley all of Glasgow. Thirty-two grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.
