Betty Jane Tungate, 83, Campbellsville, KY (1939-2022)

Betty Jane Tungate of Campbellsville passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 in Lexington. She was 83 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 11amET on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Ave., Campbellsville, KY, officiated by Rev. Brent Gupton. Burial will follow in Elk Horn Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 5pmET until 8pmET on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.


Betty Jane Tungate, daughter of the late Alvin Barnett and Sarah Margaret Perkins Barnett, was born January 14, 1939 in Larue County, Kentucky.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church.

Betty was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

She was a hard worker who enjoyed cooking, canning her garden produce, being a good Christian, but most importantly, she loved her family and was known as a wonderful mother and grandmother.

She united in marriage to James "Buford" Tungate July 12, 1958 and he preceded her in death January 25, 2011.

She is survived by one daughter and two sons: Diane Minor, Tim Tungate and wife, Rhonda and Kerry Tungate and wife, Pam of Campbellsville; seven grandchildren: Emily Keltner and husband, Derrick, Candace Altman and husband, Zach, Josh Tungate and wife, Candace, and Jonathan Leigh and wife, Haley all of Campbellsville, Alex Tungate of Beaver Dam, Maddie Tungate of Lexington, and Spencer Tungate of Durham, North Carolina; five great-grandchildren: Zak Keltner, Preslee Keltner, Kasen Altman, Isaiah Leigh, and Samuel Leigh; two brothers: Jerry Barnett and wife, Linda, and Kenneth Barnett of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Betty was also preceded in death by a sister, Doris Barnett.

Expressions of sympathy requested to be donations to the UK Bluegrass Hospice Care Center and may be made at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.
