Rev. Dorris Gene Crowder, 63

Rev. Dorris Gene Crowder, former pastor of Columbia Baptist Church and the father of Col. Wm. Casey Elementary music teacher Cyndi Crowder, passed away Friday. His obituary information is provided by Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

He was a graduate of Southern Baptist Seminary and pastored numerous churches throughout Kentucky.

He is survived by:
  • His wife of 39 years, the former Mabel Septer;
  • Three daughters, Cyndi Crowder and Susie Crowder, both of Campbellsville and Mary Bland and her husband Joseph of Bardstown;
  • Three brothers, James Crowder and his wife Wilma, Charles Crowder and his wife Nellie, and Robert Crowder and his wife Wilma, all of Robards;
  • Two sisters, Nadine Howard of Hopkinsville and Joyce Mabrey and her husband Tracy of Henderson;
  • One granddaughter, Kendall Marie Bland.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Bettye Duncan, brothers William and Frederick and his parents Ewin and Martha Spencer.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. central time Monday at Robards Baptist Church in Robards, Kentucky. Visitation will be at the church after 11 a.m. central time. A service will also be held at Resthaven Funeral Home in Louisville. Visitation will be there after 11 a.m. Tuesday. Entombment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Wickland Baptist Church missions in Bardstown.
