Confidence high for Thursday snowfall From Kim Harwood, Executive Director Edmonton Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce NWS Louisville, KY -- We wanted to update you all on the expected snowfall for Thursday as confidence continues to grow for an impactful early January snowfall, followed by some bitter cold. Highlights: -Temperatures are only expected to peak in the 20s and low 30s (SE KY) on Thursday, and precipitation type is expected to fall as all snow once it develops Thursday into Thursday evening. -The best time for accumulations is expected to be in the afternoon and evening hours on Thursday. -Snow should be finished by the Friday morning commute, however temperatures in the single digits and low teens are expected with wind chills in the 0 to 5 above range by sunrise Friday. -We have high confidence that most of our area is going to see at least 1 to 2" of snow, especially along and south of the Ohio River. Higher totals are possible as you get across southern and eastern KY. We will likely be having a conference call Wednesday afternoon given that this is our first widespread and impactful wintry event of the year. Look for those details sometime tomorrow.
