ACHS Band Boosters want your junk vehicles for fund raiser From Rick Wilson, Carl Shirley, Kinzie Rowe and David Coomer The Adair County Band Boosters have launched a fund raising project to collect donated junk vehicles and then sell them to steel buyers. The program is similar to a fund raiser by the Adair County Ambulance Service in 1989. They collected 250 junkers. In 1974 the Band Boosters participated in a Junk vehicle program and collected over 150. This is a good time to collect steel because the prices are very good now. Fifteen years have passed and there have been a lot of junk vehicles accumulating again over the county. We are very optimistic that people will want us to come and pick up their junk vehicles. It will help them by not having to worry about disposing of them, and at the same time it will help us raise some funds to help in travel costs for the band students. There are many benefits of donating your junk vehicles such as: it improves the county's appearance, it is a recycling program, and eliminates health hazards and breeding grounds for snakes and rodents. If you are interested, you can contact any band booster member or call the following: Carl Shirley, 384-4263 Rick Wilson, 384-5060 or 378-1490 Kenzie Rowe, 384-5635 David Coomer 384-4990 This story was posted on 2005-06-03 06:20:18
