Oliver (J.R.) Johnson, Jr., 69, Russell Springs, KY (1952-2021) Oliver "J.R." Johnson, Jr., of Russell Springs, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was 69 years old. Funeral services are scheduled for 1pmCT on Monday, November 1, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 N. Main St., Russell Springs, KY , with Brother Ricky Stump officiating. Burial will follow in Bradley's Pleasure Cemetery, with military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 11amCT until service time on Monday, at Bernard Funeral Home. Born on April 10, 1952, in Sumter, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Oliver and Anne Brown Johnson, Sr. Oliver was an US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a former construction contractor. J.R. was a lifetime member of the DAV. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Tina, and spending time with his family. J.R. enjoyed good food and watching The Shepherds Chapel gospel program and old western movies, especially those featuring John Wayne. J.R. is survived by his wife, Tina Shepherd Johnson, of Russell Springs; one daughter, Susan Collett Marlow of Russell Springs; four grandchildren, Stephanie (and Christopher) Mink of Nancy, Jayce (and Whitney) Shepperd of Nancy, Nash Wright of Bardstown, and Mitchell Lee Marlow of Columbia; one great-grandchild, Braxton Wright of Bardstown; and a great-granddaughter, Paisley Shepperd, on the way. Other survivors include, one brother, Robert Johnson of South Carolina; and two sisters, Sandra Croft and Ginger Padula, both of South Carolina. In addition to his parents, J.R. was preceded in death by one son, Mitchell Marlow; one daughter, Leah Wilson; three brothers, Timothy Johnson, Michael Johnson, and Johnny Johnson; and one sister, Connie Anderson.
