Adair Native Finalist for Science Fiction's Hugo, Nebula Awards

Writer and Adair County native Christopher Rowe is currently a finalist for both of science fiction's most prestigious awards, the Nebula and Hugo, for his short story "The Voluntary State."

Originally published by SciFiction,"The Voluntary State" tells the story of a ragtag band of Kentuckians attempting to overthrow a future Tennessee that has undergone tremendous physical and social change. The story is nominated in the novelette category.

A Tangent reviewer called the story "thought provoking, skillful, and extraordinary." In addition to the award nominations, Rowe's story has also been selected for inclusion in no less than four upcoming print anthologies, and is being translated into numerous languages for reprint by various magazines around the world.
