Marcella Janes Burris, 69

Marcella Janes Burris, 69, formerly of the Clay Ridge Community, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at 11:30 p.m., at Medco Center of Campbellsville, KY.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 19, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at Grissom Funeral Home with Rev. Jadell Janes and Rev. Russell Janes officiating.


Mrs. Burris was the daughter of the late Elbert and Stella Akin Janes, the widow of Coakley Burris, and a member of the Milltown United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by two children, Bruce Dean Burris and Sheila Lane Burris; by a grandson, Christopher Michael Wilson; and by a brother and sister, Matthew Lee Janes and Evola Farrow.

She is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Julia Fay Smith, Columbia, KY
  • One son: Stephen Smith, Columbia, KY
  • A daughter-in-law: Terri Burris, Columbia, KY
  • Three grandchildren: Willie Wilson and wife Kelly; and Leah Simpson and Jeremy Burris
  • A step-grandchild: Shawna Wolford and husband, Colliin
  • One great grandchild, Bryles Raven Wilson
  • Three step great grandchildren
  • Two brothers: Rev. Russell Janes and wife Ella Dee of Ferguson, and Rev. Jadell Janes and wife Carolyn of Columbia
  • Four sisters: Leola Edmonds, Joyce Wallace and husband Danny, Elois Willis and husband J.C., and Sue Jenkins and husband Jim, all of Columbia
  • Brothers-in-law: Harold Farrow, Columbia, and Garnett Burris and wife Donna, Campbellsville, KY
  • Sisters-in-law: Pat Janes, Greensburg; Bell Marie Keltner and husband Jack of Milltown; Hilda Holmes and husband, Rev. Billy Holmes, Louisvillle
  • And a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Burial will be in the Columbia Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2005, at Grissom Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY.

Grissom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
