Mayor's Report to Columbia City Council for June, 2021 By Pamela Hoots, Mayor, City of Columbia, KY 1. We did a Father's Day event at Signature Healthcare at Summit Manor. Gifts given to all residents were Donated by Mayor Hoots for the City of Columbia. 2. Around forty loads of brush were picked up during the month. 3. Several tiles, ditchlines, were cleaned by street department. 4. We are nearing the final phases of our Community Development Block Grant. Met with representatives of the Area Development District. 5. Continuing the paperwork necessary on grant for maintenance building. Will consolidate parks and recreation, streets, and sanitation into one facility. 6. Did a proclamation for Dairy Month. With County Judge Cowan. 7. Met with Synergy representatives. Conference calls. 8. Synergy is now accepting resumes for plant manager, production manager, and forklift driver (certified). 9. Cookout Restaurant started their building process. 10. Kentucky Fried Chicken is planning on opening mid-July. 11. Accepted applications for: city clerk and customer service representative. 12. Craig Lasley assisted in helping with driving when OD was on vacation. Thank you Craig. 13. The Gas Department continues to work with installation of several services. They are getting requests for gas. 14. The Street Department has spent around three days working on pot holes in the city. 15. Attended EDA meeting. Heather Spoon and I went out and took a survey of park, changes, recommendations. 16. The Parks and Recreation Department cleaned the pavilion at the city park on Fairgrounds Street. 17. We are working on light installation at the city park for volleyball and basketball court(s). 18. Blacktopped basketball court at city park. 19. Several right of ways mowed. City signs mowed. 20. Relay stations mowed for gas department. 21. The parking lot at the Trabue Russell House was sealed. Thank you to Columbia Place and Brown's Stripe and Seal. 22. The city police got their trailer through the grant. They are in-process of outfitting. 23. Had retirement luncheon for: Donnie Rowe, Robert Montgomery, and Roger Coffey. Thank you for your service.
