LWC Track & Field third/fifth at Montreat Last Chance

Montreat, NC - The Lindsey Wilson women's track and field team took fifth place at the Montreat Last Chance on Friday afternoon on the campus of Montreat College, while the men's track and field team took third place.

The Lady Blue Raiders scored a total of 44 points on the day, with their top finish coming in the 4x400 meter relay. The men scored a total of 48 points on the day, with their top finish coming in both the 110-meter hurdles and 3000-meter steeplechase.


In the track events, Kerryann Scott, Bailie Colcord, Emilija Kusic, and Laila Hardin won the 4x400-meter relay placing a time of four minutes and two seconds for ten points. Scott got her best finish of the day later on in the 100-meter dash, taking third with a time of 12.58 scoring six points while Kusic finished seventh in the event with a time of 12.75, scoring two points for the Blue Raiders.

Tyler Greenwell, Brendan Parham, Jevon Leavell, and Josiah Harris finished sixth in the 4x100-meter relay placing a time of forty-three point seventy-three seconds. Greenwell got his best finish of the day later on in the 100-meter dash, taking fourth with a time of 11.25 scoring five points while Leavell finished 11th in the event with a time of 11.40, scoring three points for the Blue Raiders.

Meredith Johnson took fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase, where she finished with a time of 12:09.16 scoring five points while Alyssa Sharp finished sixth with a time of 12:24.49 and three points. Meanwhile, in the 400-meter hurdles, Hardin took third with a time of 1:03.52 scoring six points.

In the 200-meter dash, Jaylun Wallace finished fourth with a time of 22.37 for five points while Parham finished eighth with a time of 23.01 and a point. Meanwhile, in the 400-meter dash, Wallace finished fifth crossing the line with a time of 49.27 scoring four points.

The Blue Raiders best finish of the day came in the 110-meter hurdles where Tevon Williamson finished second with a time of 16.53 and eight points. Another second-place finish was accomplished for the Blue Raiders by Levi Owens in the 3000-meter steeplechase, where Owens finished with a time of 9:34.53 scoring eight points.

In the field events, Rayne Jones-Foster took sixth in the triple jump, leaping for 13.37 meters and three points. Justin Borden secured fifth in the high jump, jumping for 1.95 meters and four points while Austin Campbell took seventh in the discus throw, achieving 42.87 meters and two points.

Ty'Nasia Walker took second in the triple jump, leaping for 11.23 meters and eight points, and secured fifth in the high jump, jumping for 5.45 meters and four points.

The Blue Raiders return to action in the Mount Olive First Chance on May 14-15.
