Rev. C.D. Goodin, 83, longtime Separate Baptist pastor, dies


Beloved minister passes away less than month after wife's death
Rev. C.D. Goodin, 83, 10233 Liberty RD, Columbia, KY, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at his home.

The funeral service will be Friday, February 4, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., Purdy Separate Baptist Church with Rev. Junior Holmes and Rev. David Coffey officiating, with interment to follow in Bearwallow Cemetery.


Rev. Goodin was a retired Separate Baptist minister, who served as pastor of churches in Adair, Russell, and Casey Counties. He was a long-time member of the Purdy Separate Baptist Church and a farmer.

He was the son of the late Joseph and Amanda Elizabeth Claiborne Goodin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Reeda Burton Goodin , on January 4, 2005.

He is survived by the following:
  • Two sons: Danny Goodin, Columbia, KY, and Terry Goodin, Marshville, NC
  • Two daughters: Phyllis Paradise, Grant, Alabama, and Marilyn Radford, Columbia, KY
  • One brother: Wesley Goodin, Columbia, KY
  • Five sisters: Juanita Warren, Margaret Miller, and Delta Stargel, all of Columbia, KY; and Reba McIlwain and Ella Newland, both of Columbus, IN
  • And nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one special great great grandson, Hunter Gabe Crowe
Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 3, 2005, at at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, and from 6 a.m. until 8:00 a.m., Friday, February 4, at the funeral home. Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m., Friday, February 4, at the Church.
