CPD: Early morning traffic stop leads to drug arrest

Columbia Police Department

Officers with the Columbia Police Department initiated a traffic stop shortly before 3amCT Monday morning, March 22, 2021, on the Cumberland Parkway near exit 49.

After making contact, it was found that the operator of the vehicle had an active warrant out of state.

Parties initially refused a search of vehicle, at which time K9 Unity Cally was utilized and gave a positive alert on vehicle.

The driver and passenger were found to be in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, a handgun was located and seized during the search.



Robert Rook, 46, with a listed resdidence of Hawaii, was placed into custody on an out of state warrant and is currently charged locally with drug and traffic charges.

Passenger Sherri Cote, 44, of Edmonton, has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance drug unspecified and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officer Trevor Foster was the arresting Officer. He was assisted on scene by Officer Josh Durbin and Deputy Derek Padgett.
