Keep doors locked, watch out for neighbors, KSP says State Police give advice for preventing, handling encounters with the home invasion robber Kentucky State Police Trooper Dwaine Barnett advises area residents not to panic about the string of home invasion robberies, but to lock their doors, be vigilant, and keep a watch to help their neighbors. "The first thing we advise is to keep doors locked. This doesn't always prevent the robber from getting in, but we do know that one residence which had a chain across the door prevented the robber's entry," Trooper Barnett said. Trooper Barnett also advised that neighbors keep a look out for each other. "If you see a stranger or a strange vehicle around a neighbor's house, get as many details as you can and call us." He advised residents that, if the robber gets in their home and makes demands, to give him the money he wants, remember details, and then call the State Police, local sheriff, or local police and give them the information. There have been four--possibly five--which seem to point to the same individual. The robberies started January 12, with the latest being the Norville Farris robbery in the Coburg Community today. One in city limits of Russell Springs Two of the robberies, technically, occurred in Taylor County. One was in the city limits of Russell Springs, and a fourth one was in Casey County. Trooper Barnett said that so far, the robbery at the Green River Spillway the KSP is not judging one way or the other about whether it involves the same robber. So far, he said, the robber has gotten very little: Nothing in the first Taylor County robbery, 19 pills in the Casey County one, $20 in Russell Springs, and under $500 in the robbery in Coburg today. The area the robber has operated in is fairly compact, about the size of Adair County but covering parts of four counties. While Adair would be in the center of the area of activity, there have been no reports here, he said. The robber has had a handgun in most of the incidents, but today he was carrying a longer weapon, Trooper Barnett said. "It was either a rifle or a shotgun," he said.
