Agenda for Columbia City Council meeting, Mon 1 Mar 2021

The Columbia City Council will hold a special called meeting at 6pmCT on Monday, March 1, 2021, at City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Attendance will be limited, and the meeting will be livestreamed on YouTube: https://youtu.be/hmeI0df3Ab8.

  • CALL TO ORDER; SPECIAL CALLED MEETING OF THE COLUMBIA CITY COUNCIL, MONDAY, MARCH 1, 2021 AT 6:00 P.M. IN CITY HALL.

  • Per recommendation of the CDC and Social Distancing Requirements, The Columbia City Council Meeting will not be open to the public but will be held as a special video teleconferencing meeting. The Columbia City Council and designated staff will participate by a video teleconferencing system where the meeting will be broadcast to the public. Any interruption in the video or audio broadcast at any location shall result in the suspension of the meeting until the broadcast is restored. No primary location will be set for public attendance as per Kentucky Attorney General Opinion 20-05, public attendance will not be permitted at the meeting due to the highly contagious nature of COVID-19 and it is not feasible for the City to maintain order and abide by recommended and mandated precautions while providing a central physical location for public viewing. As the City of Columbia City Council is following state mandated guidelines to social distance during the COVID-19 pandemic, City Hall is closed and not open to the public, and citizens are encouraged to watch the meeting live on YouTube via the following link: https://youtu.be/hmeI0df3Ab8

Sgt. Jr. Murphy, new Chief of Columbia Police, sworn in

Leadership of the Columbia Police Department transitioned in a brief swearing in ceremony before the City Council meeting Monday evening, March 1, 2021. As announced last month, Chief Jason Cross retired from the force and Sgt. Jr. Murphy is chosen to be the new Chief of Police.

Columbia Police Chief Sgt. Jr. Murphy receives the badge - and responsibility - of leading the department from retiring Chief Jason Cross. The badge reads Chief Columbia Police 501. Sgt. Murphy has been serving since 2003.
