Betty Hawkins, 71, Russell Springs, KY (1949-2021)

Betty Hawkins of Russell Springs passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021, at Russell County Hospital. She was 71 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 1pmCT on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N. Main St., Russell Springs, KY, with Brother and Sister Herl Robertson and her son, Brother Stevie Roy officiating. Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5pmCT to 8pmCT on Monday, January 4, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home.

Social distancing guidelines must be followed by everyone in attendance. Facial coverings are required.



Born on April 26, 1949, in Jamestown, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Carmel and Edith Weston Coe. Betty was a homemaker. She was a member of the Word of God Church in Russell Springs for 36 years and grew up singing in church with her brother and sister. Betty was a pillar in the church and loved praising God. Betty dearly loved her family and took great pride in being a mother and grandmother. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include three sons, Stevie (and Michelle) Roy of Jamestown, Ricky (and Tammy Carter) Roy of Jamestown, and Bradley (and Terri) Hawkins of Russell Springs; one daughter, Tammy (and Lance) McGowan of Russell Springs; nine grandchildren, Kristy Roy, Jennifer Lynch, Cody Roy, Arabella Roy, Andrew Roy, Madelyn McGowan, Chase McGowan, Calaway Robertson, and Peyton Chapman; and three great-grandchildren, Aden Roy, Wyatt Keen, and Avery Roy. Betty is also survived by two brothers, J.L. Coe of Liberty and Carson Coe of California; one sister, Sarah Rector of Illinois; and a special friend, Tommy Conover of Russell Springs.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Coe and Sam Coe; and two sisters, Cathy Coe and Mae Weston.
