Bowmans attend Ali Peace Center ceremony Columbians Kaye and David Bowman were in Louisville for the celebration of the Muhammad Ali Center pinacle point as this international effort comes one step closer to reality. Ali, signed the steel beam that will be the highest pennicle of The Center. Then the attendees signed, so Kayes and Davids signatures are also up there with Ali's for all time to come. The beam was then raised into place while the guests watched. The Center, scheduled to open one year from now in November 2005, has a mission that includes preserving and sharing the legacy and ideals of Muhammad Ali and inspiring both children and adults to find the greatness within themselves. The mission of The Center is to preserve and share the legacy and ideals of Muhammad Ali, to promote respect, hope, and understanding, and to inspire adults and children everywhere to be as great as they can be. Longtime Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson told the crowd, The Ali Center will be a keystone addition to our booming downtown. The facility will reach far beyond Louisville, to people across the world, sharing the Champs spirit of kindness, understanding, and community. Kaye Bowman said that the speeches included one by Alis wife, Lonnie, vice chair and co-founder of the Muhammad Ali Center, who expressed the importance of having the Center be built here. It was our wish that the Center be built in Louisville, our hometown, Mrs. Ali said. Even though Muhammad belongs to the world his legacy began here. After that, photos were made and then dinner was served at Mortons Steak House. The invitation to the gala event was a gift from Dr. Phil Aaron who was among the 300 top donors to The Ali Peace Center.
