Laverne (Blondie) Speer, 90, Campbellsville, KY (1930-2020) Laverne "Blondie" Speer of Campbellsville passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020. She was 90 years old. A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville, officiated by Bro. Jason Shirrell, Bro. Kevin Shirrell and Bro. Blake Jessie. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Laverne "Blondie" Speer of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Alford Smith and Munervia Loy Smith, was born July 20, 1930 in Adair County, Kentucky. She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and a homemaker who enjoyed gourmet cooking and entertaining. She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Greensburg Baptist Church. Laverne enjoyed walking, exercising and attending her prayer group. She especially loved music and her pets. She is survived by two daughters: Beverly Pike and husband, Paul of Campbellsville and Patty Durrett and husband, Bobby of Greensburg; four grandchildren: Chris Newton of Campbellsville, Kevin Shirrell (Alisa) of Campbellsville, Julie Thornton (Brent) of Bowling Green and Jason Shirrell (Sharon) of Campbellsville; three step-grandchildren: Allen Pike (Christy), Brandie Anderson (Chris) and Justin Durrett (Megan); ten great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Sue Jessie of Elizabethtown; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Laverne was also preceded in death by a grandson, Gerald Newton July 21, 1990 and a brother, Billy Joe Smith. Expressions of sympathy are requested to be donations to Gideon Bibles and may be made at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home. Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
