Earl Huddleston, 82, noted attorney, World War II veteran

Earl Huddleston, 82, 106 Lowes Lane, Columbia, KY, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2004, at 3:15 p.m., at Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room, Columbia, KY.

Mr. Huddleston was a noted attorney in this area and a veteran of World War II.

His funeral will be Sunday, November 14, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., CST, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Rev. Richard Guerrant and Rev. Dwight Forderhase officiating.


He was the son of the late Walter Franklin and Lottie Russell Huddleston of Adair County.

He was a member of Columbia Union Presbyterian Church.

He was a retired attorney in Columbia. He was admitted to the bar on April 13, 1949 and was a member of the prestigious International Society of Barristers, American Bar Association, American College of Trial Lawyers, American Trial Lawyers Association, American Judicature Society, Kentucky Academy of Trial Lawyers, Kentucky Bar Association and the Adair County Bar Association.

Mr. Huddleston was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge #96.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Walker Huddleston, Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • One son: Lynn Earl Huddleston
  • , Louisville, KY
  • Two brothers: Former U.S. Senator Walter "Dee" Huddleston, Elizabethtown, KY; and Harold Huddleston, Elizabethtown, KY
  • Four sisters: Virginia Van Zant, Elizabethtown, KY; Mary Helen Miller, Shelbyville, KY; Martha Jane Huddleston, Bowling Green, KY; and Dimple Duerr, Louisville, KY
  • An aunt: Ruth Hardin, Bowling Green, KY
  • Several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
  • Care givers: Tim Turner, Michael Turner, and Jonathan Lacy.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Huddleston and Charles Huddleston.

Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Columbia Union Presbyterian Church and may be made at the funeral home.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Visitation is after 5:00 p.m., CST, Saturday, November 13, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY.
