J.O.Y. Ministries launches annual campaign This month J.O.Y. Ministries is launching its annual campaign with the theme "Ring in the New Year with J.O.Y." The campaign will last through the beginning of January. All monies collected will go directly towards the ministries of the Crisis Resource Center, including food, shelter, clothing, and rent/utility assistance. Cally's House, a single-family homeless shelter used in conjunction with the Center, was constructed and opened in 2019. Since that time, the shelter has rarely been empty. This past month, J.O.Y. has seen an increased demand for financial assistance and nearly a doubling in demand for food bags since last month. "We expect the need this holiday season to be the greatest we have ever seen," says treasurer, Maggie Coleman. "We chose the theme 'Ring in the New Year with J.O.Y.' because we know how much everyone is looking forward to moving past all the suffering of the past year. We want to be part of getting our community back on track and helping local families to experience Christ's joy, even in difficult times." J.O.Y plans on providing boxed meals to needy families for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, and to offer a special gift to kids at Christmas time. Donations can be given via Paypal at the website www.joy-ministries.org or by mailing a check to J.O.Y. Ministries, P.O. Box 114, Columbia, KY 42728. The Crisis Resource Center is located at 411 Greensburg Street and is open from 1-5 Monday through Friday. Thank you for supporting this ministry to bring joy to those in crisis in our community.
