Remembering Jim Hadley who died from COVID-19

"...There’s not been 10 minutes go by since you’ve passed I’ve not talked to you. I’ll forever call your phone hoping you’ll pick up. I’ll leave a message hoping you’ll get back to me soon. Or wait for a reply to the many tests I’ll send..."

By Hunter Hadley

Son of Jim Hadley who died from COVID-19

November 11, 2020, 5:03amCT -- 24 hours ago I was pacing back and fourth in a hospital parking lot in the cold for hours, scared, frustrated, confused and worried.

24 hours ago I lost not only my Dad, but my best friend. The person who would always give me lectures, the person who would want the best for me in life, the person who always made sure I knew what I was capable of.

My Dad in many ways was my hero. He always made sure I was in a good mood. I was okay, I wasn’t hungry and I was happy. He would do whatever it took to make me smile. And being the hard headed 16 year old, I realize I didn’t appreciate those times enough.

There’s not been 10 minutes go by since you’ve passed I’ve not talked to you. I’ll forever call your phone hoping you’ll pick up. I’ll leave a message hoping you’ll get back to me soon. Or wait for a reply to the many tests I’ll send. We didn’t have a lot in common. But what we did have I’ll forever cherish. There’s not a thing in this world I wouldn’t give up to have one last 10 minute talk with you.

If i have any advice, don’t take these moments for granted. Life can change in an instant. Make time for your family. Be there for them. Call or text them and tell them you love them.

I never thought the last time I’d see you would be through that hospital window. but God has different ways of working I guess. This isn’t goodbye. Until we meet again Dad, I love you dearly. And I will forever hold the memories we’ve made close to my heart. Thank you for shaping me into the person I am today. Rest in paradise Dad. I love you.

Hunter, his mother Jan, and his four siblings are bravely sharing their grief and urging people to take the COVID-19 Coronavirus seriously as more and more families are being affected.
