Margie Ruth McGee Ernest, 71

Margie Ruth McGee Ernest, 71, 100 Quinn Lane, Campbellsville, KY, formerly of Adair County, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at 2:42 a.m., at the Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY.

The funeral service will be Thursday, November 4, 2004, at 1:00 p.m., at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with Bro. Hershey Giles.


She was the daughter of the late Welby and Thelma Mae Dixon Giles of Adair County, KY, and the widow of Ronald Ernest.

She is survived by the following:
  • One daughter and son-in-law: Patti and Dr. Max Downey
  • One son and daughter-in-law: Mike and Kathy McGee of Fallow, Nevada
  • One brother: Wilby E. Giles, Sun City, AZ.
  • Two grandchildren: Christopher Collins and his wife Jacqueline, and Heather McGee.
  • Three step-grandchildren: Brian Downey, Erin Eubank, and Laura Brummett
  • One great grandchild: Kiara Collins
  • Two step-great grandchildren: Maggie Brummett and Allie Brummett
  • An a host of other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers: Mary Sullivan, Dwight Edgar "Jody" Giles, and Edmund Coy Giles.

She was a foster parent for mentally and physically handicapped individuals for 37 years in Nevada. She had received a certificate from the Governor of the State of Nevada for maintaining one of the longest operating residential homes for the mentally and physically handicapped in Nevada.

Interment will be in Caldwell Chapel Cemetery at Knifley.

Visitation will be after 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 3, 2004, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY.
