Donald Coomer, 84, Columbia, KY (1935-2020) Donald Coomer of Columbia passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:30amCT on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Rev. Bill Davenport officiating. Burial will follow in the Haven Hill Cemetery, with full military honors provided by VFW Post 6097. Visitation will be on Thursday after 8:30amCT at the funeral home. For the health and respect of the family, please follow all rules for social distancing and everyone attending will be required to wear a mask or face covering. Born December 13, 1935, in Argo, IL, he is the son of the late Vasco and Pearl Gibson Coomer. Mr. Coomer was of the Methodist faith and a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He enjoyed golf and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Dawn Sequist Coomer of Columbia, KY; a daughter Debra Coomer of Lexington, KY; a son Douglas Coomer of San Rafael, CA; three grandchildren Logan Coomer (Kayla), Kimberly Rapier and Mackenzie Minton (Brandon); two great-grandchildren Branson and Bryson Minton; six siblings Earl and Ronald Coomer, Cleda Coleman, Phyllis Akin, Betty Melson and Karren Lissak; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five siblings Maurice, Dale and Elwood Coomer, Opal Coffey and Louise Coomer Allen. Pallbearers will be Clyde Mizell, Ricky Tabor, Brandon Minton, Tony Grant, Richie Melson and Howard Loy. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
