Aubrey Johnson, 93, Russell County, KY (1927-2020)

Aubrey Johnson, 93, of Jamestown, died Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the Russell County Hospital.

He was born January 20, 1927 in Russell County to Okle and Flora Gaskin Johnson.

He was employed by Russell County School District. He held various positions throughout his 31 years of employment.

He taught Health & PE and was the basketball coach at Russell County High School, was principal at Jamestown Elementary and was Director of Transportation throughout his career.



He went into cattle farming full time after his retirement.

He was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Verta Johnson.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Glendo Johnson and an infant brother, 3 sisters Doris Aaron, Mary Morgan & Janis Aaron.

Survivors include:

One son: Rodney (Beth Ann) Johnson, Jamestown

Two granddaughters: Macey Johnson and Morgan Johnson

One brother: Benge Johnson, Russell Springs

One sister: Faye Harness, Cinncinnati, Ohio

Funeral service for Aubrey Johnson will be Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 11amCT at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Bradshaw, Rev. David Calhoun & Hon. Jeff Hoover officiating.

Visitation will be 4-8pmCT Tuesday, September 22, 2020. Interment will be in the Jamestown Cemetery.

Special Music: Dean & Sheila McKinley

Pallbearers: Jonathan Smith, Steve McFall, Colby Smith, Jackson Smith, Randy McFall and Jeff Hoover.

Bernard Funeral Home in Russell Springs in charge of arrangements.
