Robert Lee Coffey, 87, Metcalfe County, KY native

Robert Lee Coffey of Louisville passed away Monday, September 14, 2020. He was 87 years old. Robert was born in the Goodluck Community of Metcalfe County, Kentucky on Sunday, February 12, 1933, the son of William Henry and China Mae Smith Coffey.

He served in the Army during the Korean War following his graduation from Metcalfe County High School. In 1959, he graduated from Bowling Green Business University. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister-in-law, Peggy Coffey, and brothers-in-law, Bennie Dobbs, Robert Keeton, and Charles Parks.



Robert retired from a 48-year career at Jim Cooke Buick in Louisville. He was a member of Highview Baptist Church in Louisville and a devout Christian.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Barbara (Keeton) Coffey of Louisville, Kentucky, whom he wed on September 3, 1960, his daughter, Valerie (Coffey) Harrington of St. Leonard, Maryland, son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jennifer Coffey of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, three grandchildren, Austin Harrington, Alexandra “Ally” Harrington, and Nora Coffey, brother, Howard Coffey of Edmonton, Kentucky, sister, Dorothy Parks of Owensboro, Kentucky, sisters-in-law, Patricia Dobbs of Lansing, Illinois and Margenia Keeton of Burkesville, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service is Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 11amCT at the Grider Memorial Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky with eulogy by David Wells. Burial will be in the Grider Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Robert Wells Keeton Scholarship Fund or the Grider Memorial Cemetery Fund (c/o 170 Fudge Hill, Burkesville, Kentucky 42717).
