Gladys Marie Smith, 74, Edmonton, KY (1946-2020) Gladys Marie Smith of Edmonton passed away Monday, August 10, 2020 at her home after a brief illness. She was 74 years old. Funeral services for Gladys Smith will be held at 1pmCT on Friday, August 14, 2020, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East St., Edmonton, KY, with burial to follow in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens. Due to the current Covid-19 crisis, the funeral will be limited to close family. A walk through visitation will be held from 5pmCT until 8pmCT on Thursday, and after 9amCT on Friday at the funeral home. Gladys was the daughter of the late Elmer and Rosie Eudy Brown. She was of the General Baptist faith and a homemaker. Gladys was an avid quilter which started over 40 years ago. She and her sisters carried on an art that was passed on from there mother. Also everyone who knew her knew she was John Wayne's number one fan. Gladys is survived by two children. Marie (Deandra) Barlow of Edmonton. Michael (Jill) Health of Shawneetown, Illinois. One brother Charlie (Marilyn) Brown of Edmonton. Five grandchildren also survive. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James G. Smith whom she missed dearly and one brother and three sisters, Lewis Brown, Betty Lyons, Ann Settles and Frances Coffey. Please share your condolences with the family at www.butler-funeralhome.com.
