FEMA grant awarded to Campbellsville Fire Rescue

By Chris Taylor, Fire Chief

On Wednesday August 5, 2020 Campbellsville Fire Rescue received notification from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that our 2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) COVID-19 Supplemental grant application had been approved and would receive funding in the amount of $2,600.00.

With this award the department will be able to purchase or reimburse items related to prevent, prepare for and respond to coronavirus. Potentially we are looking to reimburse items we purchased in the FY 19/20 budget year for the COVID-19 pandemic including air purifying respirators that are compatible with our Self Contained Breathing Apparatus face pieces.

This is the second time in several years Campbellsville Fire-Rescue has been awarded a federal grant from FEMA. However, since 2011 Campbellsville Fire Rescue has received $694,711.00.00 in state, federal and local grant funding to benefit residents of Campbellsville and Taylor County.

Campbellsville Fire-Rescue would like to thank 1st District Congressman James Comer for his support of this vital Federal grant program. We would also like to thank the full/part time staff and volunteer firefighters that serve this community daily. This equipment will have a positive impact on their health and safety.
