ACSO: Adair woman injured in single vehicle accident

By Sheriff Josh Brockman
Adair County Sheriff's Office

On Friday, July 31, 2020, at 3:13pmCT, the Adair County Sheriff's Office was dispatched, along with Adair County EMS and the Columbia-Adair County Fire Department, to the Coburg community on KY 55 North to a single vehicle collision.

Preliminary investigation showed that Virginia Tweedy, 54, of Columbia, was traveling south on KY55 in a 2005 Suzuki SUV during a heavy rain storm. She hydroplaned, losing control of her vehicle.

Tweedy's vehicle crossed into the northbound lane, then into the emergency lane where it struck the guardrail. Her vehicle then crossed back across the highway, coming to a rest back in the southbound lane.

Tweedy was treated on scene by Adair County EMS, and then transported to Taylor County Regional Hospital.

The accident is being investigated by Deputy Chandler Staten, who was assisted by Sheriff Josh Brockman.
