Mattie M. Murrell, 97

Mattie M. Murrell, 97, 138 Holmes Bend Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Monday, June 14, 2004, at 6:30 a.m., at Westlake Regional Hospital.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at 1:00 p.m., at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with Bro.Terry White and Bro. Raymond Martin officiating.


Mrs. Murrell was the daughter of the late Willie Jacob and Ellen Henson Beard and the widow of James A. Murrell, who preceded her in death on April 4, 2002.

She is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Martha brockman, Indianapolis, IN
  • One son and daughter-in-law: William A. "Billy" and Rita Murrell, Columbia, KY
  • Five grandchildren: Valerie Adams and her husband, Dean; Richard Murrell and his wife, Garnetta; Randal Murrell and his wife, Jamie; Debra Wickiert and her husbandTerry; and Allan Brockman and his wife, Kimberly
  • Fifteen great grandchildren: Mindy Frost, Brian Brunning, Matthew Brockman, Andrew Brockman, Daniel Adams and his wife, Ashley; Devon Adams, Darren Adams and his wife, Lori; Morgan, Makenzie, Meretith, Madelyn, and Myles Thomas Murrell; and Amanda, Kristy, and Cassei Wieckert
  • Three great great grandchildren: Jonathan Alexander Frost, Brian Lee Brunning, and Mason Adams.
Mrs. Murrell was a member of Columbia Christian Church, a member of Circle #4 at Columbia Christian Church, a member of the Sunshine Circle in the Mt. Pleasant Community, and she was a Sunday School teacher for several years ago at the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church.

Pallbearers: Richard Murrell, Randal Murrell, Daniel Adams, Darren Adams, Jeff Brockman, and Brian Brunning.

Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to Columbia Christian Church Building Fund and may be left at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy are also suggested to Gideon Bibles.

Visitation is after 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
