Catherine Wibbels is new Columbia Rotary Club President

Catherine Wibbels, Women's Resident Director with the housing and residence life department at Lindsey Wilson College, is the new President of the Columbia Rotary Club.

The Columbia Rotary Chapter had voted to dissolve the local club in March 2020 however, in the two months since, she has been selected and her new term started this month, June 2020. She is working with the current District Governor of the Rotary Club, Otha Ray Stearman; the new District Governor elect, Jo Ann Heppermann; and previous Columbia Rotary Club (CRC) President, Kelli Claypool, and members George Kolbenschlag, Phil Hanna, Ted Caldwell, and Jerry Holt.

Wibbels said, "After a lot of thinking, praying, and research, I am humbled and honored to accept the position of President of the Columbia Rotary Club and I cannot wait to do amazing things through this organization.

She is reaching out to all who would be interested in joining the Columbia Rotary Club Chapter as an active member. She said, "I believe that, together, we can do amazing things within Rotary and in our community."

Catherine is a Louisville, KY native and a 2019 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor's of science degree in general psychology. An honors scholar, she graduated with the latin cum laude honor.

The Columbia Rotary Club is one of the oldest clubs in the area, serving the community since 1935. The CRC is a service club that is part of Rotary International, a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides opportunities for service not only locally in Adair County, but throughout the world in cooperation with more than 1.2 million Rotarians in more than 33, 000 worldwide clubs.

Rotary encourages high ethical standards in all vocations and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. The motto for Rotary International is "Service above Self" and it is time to lay that as our foundation.

She said that by joining the CRC, you will get to:
- Work with others in addressing community needs.
- Establish contact with local and an international network of professional business men and women.
- Involve your family in promoting service efforts.
- Assist with Rotary International's humanitarian service efforts.

Membership for Rotarians is open to anyone from 18 years and older. The membership dues for our Columbia Club are $150 per year.

For questions, comments, or concerns, or to join the club, please contact her at 502-439-6601 or at columbiakyrotaryclub@gmail.com.
