Missing Photos? Although nobody in the Ohio Navy notices when they pass by on the way to the lake, folks who know can still spot evidence of the tornado that hit Cane Valley in 1997. Most of the buildings have been repaired or rebuilt, but the F3 twister damaged homes, churches, and trees in a 10 mile swath through northern Adair County, and some evidence of the power of that storm remains, both in changes to the landscape and in changes to the lives of folks trying to rebuild what was damaged or lost. One small piece of somebody's puzzle recently came through our mail drop. After the storm, Margaret Dunn of Knifley Road, found 2 pictures that she assumes were transported across the county by the tornado. One was so damaged that she was only able to save pieces, but the other survived the trip almost perfectly. She didn't recognize the subjects in either picture, and wasn't ever able to locate anyone who knew them, but she's kept them for the last 7 years in hopes of finding the owners, and recently decided to enlist our help. If you recognize the folks in these 2 photos, and know how to get in contact with them, drop us a line, or tell them to contact us at 384-3979 or by email to webmaster@columbiamagazine.com. We'll be glad to mail them on, and we're sure Margaret will be pleased to be sending the pictures on home as well. This story was posted on 2004-05-20 13:47:00
