ACHS Class of 2020 Commencement Exercises By Chad Parnell, Assistant Principal Adair County High School The Adair County High School Class of 2020 will hold its commencement exercises, by appointment, May 20-22, 2020, in the John Burr Memorial Gymnasium. Each senior who is participating in the graduation ceremony will be allowed to have up to six family members accompany them. Seniors and their family should arrive at the back of the ACHS gym 15 minutes prior to their appointment time, remain in their cars, and wait for instructions. While in the gym, face masks must be worn. Masks may be cloth, handmade, or even a bandanna style. Masks will not be provided. The class of 2020 is made up of 184 students. One hundred five students in the class have achieved a Latin honor academic recognition. Twenty-nine students have earned a Summa Cum Laude designation (weighted GPA of 4.0 or greater), 33 students have earned a Magna Cum Laude designation (weighted GPA of 3.5 to 3.99), and 43 students have earned a Cum Laude designation (weighted GPA of 3.0 to 3.49). Seniors will also be wearing zipper pulls that denote transition readiness. Sixty-eight students have met both academic and technical readiness benchmarks, 36 students have met academic ready benchmarks, and 37 students have met career readiness benchmarks. The motto for the Class of 2019 is, "Cherish yesterday, live for today, and reach for tomorrow." The class chose Good Old Days by Macklemore as the class song, Hydrangea as the class flower, and red, white, and blue as the class colors. This story was posted on 2020-05-16 11:49:04
