Art Competition 2020 announced by Congressman Comer By Matt/Michelle Bowling Washington, D.C. - On Monday, Congressman James Comer (KY-01) announced the start of the 2020 Congressional Art Competition, open to high school students throughout the 1st Congressional District. The United States House of Representatives hosts this competition each year to recognize talented young artists from across the country. High School students are encouraged to participate by submitting artwork for consideration. The winning artwork from the 1st District will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol alongside the winning artwork from across the country. It will also be featured on House.gov's Congressional Art Competition page, while the second-place winner's artwork will be displayed in Congressman Comer's office for the year. "During this uncertain time when schools are closed and our students are having to learn from home, the Congressional Art Competition is a terrific opportunity for students to spend time showcasing their artistic ability. I encourage as many students as possible to participate and am looking forward to seeing the creative skills of Kentuckians on full display," Congressman Comer said. Artwork entered in the contest may be up to 26 inches by 26 inches, up to 4 inches in depth, and cannot weigh more than 15 pounds. All entries are due on April 24 and can be mailed to or dropped off at Congressman Comer's District Office in Tompkinsville.
