Bicyclist Eric Parnell dies of accident injuries

Story update November 29, 2003
Eric Parnell, 18, Columbia, died at 1:40 p.m. this morning at the University of Louisville Hospital as a result of an accident which occurred Thursday, November 26, when he turned his bicycle in front of a vehicle traveling north on Hwy 55, one-half mile north of Columbia.

Story posted November 27, 2003:
Bicyclist Eric Parnell, 18, Columbia, was flown to the University of Louisville Hospital after being struck by an automobile at 4:40 p.m., Wednesday afternoon, November 26 on Kentucky 55 north of Columbia.

Parnell was attempting to cross the highway and was struck by a vehicle driven by Julie George, Greensburg. Ms. George was not injured.

Parnell was treated first at Westlake Regional Hospital, Columbia, KY, before being airlifted to Louisville.

The accident was investigated by Sgt. J. Suratt of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY.
