Food donations may be taken to Columbia City Hall

By Tiffany Collins

The City of Columbia will be collecting food items such as: pop tarts, cereal bars, peanut butter crackers and cheese crackers, animal crackers, gold fish crackers, applesauce, soups, spaghetti, ravioli, easy mac cheese cups, mashed potato cups, doughnuts, fruit cups, jello cups, Gatorade, chips, and canned vegetables for those in need while schools and senior centers are closed.

These items will be made available for those necessary in our community with school age children during the next few weeks of school shutdown.

The city will additionally be collecting items for the elderly due to the senior citizen center being closed. Items include: jello cups, fruit cups, canned vegetables, beans, mashed potato cups, crackers, and peanut butter.

“We would like to encourage people in the community to bring these items to city hall,” said Mayor Pamela Hoots.

If you know of someone in a situation that needs food, either elderly or with school age children that needs assistance, please contact City Hall 270-384-2501.
