Billy Dean (Bill) Simpson, 88, Greensburg, KY (1931-2020)

Billy Dean "Bill" Simpson of Greensburg passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020. He was 88 years old.

The funeral services for Billy Dean "Bill" Simpson will be conducted at 11amCT on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with Bro. Jonathan Meadows, Bro. Troy Arnett, Bro. Mark Bonta, and Bro. Wilburn Bonta officiating. Burial will follow in the Green County Memory Gardens with full military honors.

Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmT on Wednesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, and after 7amCT on Thursday until time of the funeral service.


Billy Dean "Bill" Simpson of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Homer Leslie "Les" Simpson and Lillie Bloyd Simpson, was born on Saturday, July 11, 1931 in Green County and departed this life on Monday, March 9, 2020 at his home. He was 88 years, 7 months, and 29 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church. He was a self-employed plumber and repairman, and also worked for Southern States for 17 years. He was a Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Army where he was a recipient of the Bronze Star, and was a lifetime member of the Green County Sportsman Club.

Survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce Aleen Bonta Simpson of Greensburg, having united in marriage on January 22, 1955.

Other survivors include a daughter: Gail Simpson of Greensburg; a son and daughter-in-law: Tim and Lana Simpson of Greensburg; four grandchildren: Tiffany Meadows and her husband, Jonathan, Samantha Morgan and her husband, Brian, Becky Benningfield and her husband, Jeremy, and C.J. Yates, and her husband, Derek all of Greensburg; seven great-grandchildren: Abrie and Liam Meadows, Kimber Morgan, Barrett and Steyr Benningfield, Ruger and Abby Yates; a brother and sister-in-law: Homer and Brenda Simpson of Greensburg; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Wilburn and Connie Bonta, Winfred Bonta, Alicia Bonta, and Suvada Arnett all of Green County; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Simpson was also preceded in death by a grandson: Barrett Simpson; a great-grandson: Braiden Meadows; two sisters and three brothers: Vera Tucker, Mildred Neagle, Richard Simpson, Ogden Simpson, and Gearon Simpson.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, Norton Children's Hospital, or the Kosair Children's Charities, which can be made at the funeral home.
