Ralph Porter Dowell, 81, Metcalfe County, KY native Ralph Porter Dowell departed this life Saturday, March 8, 2020 in Adair County, having attained the age of eighty-one years, eleven months and nine days. Services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 2pmCT at the Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Greasy Creek Cemetery in the Exie Community of Green County with Military Honors. Visitation is requested from 5-8 Tuesday March 10, 2020 and after 7am Wednesday until the funeral hour. Officiating will be Bro. Larry Wisdom. Pallbearers: Donnie Dowell, Joe Dowell, Chris Dowell, Donnie Dowell Jr., Chris Ervin and Chad Dowell. Honorary Pallbearers: Tom Rowe, Mark Faulkner, Lewis Bernard, and Barkley Hancock. He was born March 30, 1938 in Metcalf County, Kentucky to the late Jack and Ruth Walker Dowell. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was associated with Fry Baptist Church. He was a United States Navy Veteran. He was self-employed in the oil field industry. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, being outdoors and collecting knives. He also loved to cut up with family and friends. Besides his parents he was proceeded in death by his wife JoAnn Dowell and one son: Ronnie Dowell and one brother: Richard Dowell. He is survived by his two sons and their spouses: Joe and Corine Dowell of Columbia and Donnie and Tammy Dowell of Pennsylvania. One daughter and her spouse: Sherry and Chris Ervin of Edmonton. Fourteen Grandchildren and Eighteen Great-Grandchildren. Plus, a host of other relatives and friends. Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
