Adair Solid Waste vendor change under consideration

By Linda Waggener

The Solid Waste Committee met February 3, 2020 to consider an offer from Central Kentucky Fiber which will provide a trailer for storage between monthly pickups and pay monthly.

The committee explored available space for the trailer to park at the Recycling Center between pick up times should they contract with the new vendor and found at least two possible spots, pending measurements. This is for pick up at the Recycling Center.

They addressed complaints about broken bags and garbage strewn on roadsides.

Letters will be written to all present garbage haulers in the county to assure that each meets the requirements, including that of using covered trucks so no garbage can fall off the truck while it is moving.

They are looking to hire one employee to help maintain hours the Recycling Center is open - Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week from 7amCT-3pm.

Present for the meeting were: Solid Waste Coordinator Bridget Compton, Adair County Judge Executive Gale Cowan, Magistrates Daryl Flatt, Billy Coffey and Harold Burton.
