LWC Swimming competes in second day of MSC Championships

Williamsburg, KY - The Lindsey Wilson men's swim team has totaled 410.5 points across the first two days of competition at the Mid-South Conference Swimming Championship to sit in second place.


Calvin Coetzee led the charge for LWC as he earned two First-Team All-MSC honors and a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle and the 400-yard medley relay. His mark during the freestyle set a new MSC meet record. During a time trial in the 100-yard fly, Coetzee broke the LWC program record with a time of 48.88 seconds.



Ron Wolfart also earned First Team All-MSC honors and two first-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard medley relay. Reece Kincaid earned second-team honors in the 400-yard IM as well as first-team honors in the relay.

Four Blue Raiders qualified for the finals of the 200-yard freestyle relay with Coetzee setting a blistering pace. Coetzee swam his way to the fastest time ever at the MSC Championship with an A-cut time of 1:39.07 as Tyler King qualified sixth, Ricky Dungan in seventh and Michael Peck in the eighth. King also notched an A cut with his time of 1:46.13.

Coetzee went on to break his own record in the finals with a time of 1:38.16. Dungan finished sixth in the finals with an A-cut time of 1:45.77 as King took seventh at 1:47.55 (A cut) and Peck in eighth at 1:47.75.

Both Wolfart and Bryce Rice made the finals of the 100-yard breaststroke as Wolfart qualified first with an A-cut time of 58.17 and Rice in fourth at 1:00.26. Both held their position in the finals as Wolfart improved his time to 57.83 seconds, an A cut, and Rice touched the wall at 1:00.20.

Kincaid made the 400-yard IM finals after qualifying with the fastest time at 4:14.38, a national A-Cut standard. Kincaid took second in the championship round with a time of 4:09.18.

James de Goede and William Thilwind took first and second in the 100-yard backstroke prelims as both hit national A standards with times of 53.09 and 53.60 seconds, respectively. Both athletes slid one spot in the finals as de Goede clocked in at 52.78 seconds and Thilwind at 53.21 seconds.

The Blue Raiders took third place in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Wolfart, King, de Geode and Coetzee raced their way to an A-cut time of 1:26.59. Lindsey Wilson wrapped up their night with a first-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay when de Goede, Wolfart, Kincaid, and Coetzee earner First Team All-MSC honors with an A-cut time of 3:26.24.

Cumberlands (KY) sits in first place with 577.5 points as Loyola (La.) is third with 373.5 points.

The Men Blue Raiders return to the pool for the final day of the MSC Championship at 9amCT Saturday morning.

LWC Women's Swimming in Fourth Following Day Two of MSC Championship

The Lindsey Wilson women's swim team has totaled 236 points across the first two days of competition at the Mid-South Conference Swimming Championship to sit in fourth place.

Leading the way for the Blue Raiders was Jessica Macdonald who earned First Team All-MSC honors and a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. Her mark during the event set a new MSC meet record.

Macdonald and Carlene Taylor both made an appearance in the 200-yard freestyle finals after finishing in second and fifth with A-cut times of 1:58.11 and 1:58.73, respectively. Both improved their positioning in the finals as Macdonald took first place with a time of 1:53.84. Taylor finished third with a time of 1:57.17. Both notched another national A cut.

Lindsey Wilson's pairing of Nissrine Bourbouh, Narjiss Bourbouh, Taylor and Macdonald finish in fourth place of the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:40.89 for an A cut standard.

In the 400-yard IM Sarah Hahn qualified for the finals after finishing in eighth place of the prelims with a time of 5:02.70. Hahn went on to place seventh in the finals with a mark of 4:57.49 to hit an A cut.

Nissrine Bourbouh made the finals of the 100-yard backstroke with a B cut time of 1:03.30 and would finish eighth after a B cut time of 1:04.21 in the championship round.

Hahn, Macdonald, Narjiss Bourbouh, and Taylor closed out the night with a fourth-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay with an A-cut time of 4:05.57.

Cumberlands (KY) is in first place at the event with 534 points as Indiana Wesleyan is second with 412 and Loyola (La.) is third with 317 points.

The Lady Blue Raiders return to the pool for the final day of the MSC Championship at 9amCT Saturday morning.
