LWC Men's Basketball falls to Pikeville 95-64 By Christopher Coombs Pikeville, KY - Looking to string together their third straight Mid-South Conference win the Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team struggled to find their rhythm all night against Pikeville, falling 95-64 at the UPIKE Gym. The Blue Raiders (16-9, 5-6 MSC) shot just 36.4 percent from the floor after the Bears defensive efforts forced the Blue Raiders into ten turnovers and just one offensive rebound. Pikeville (17-7, 4-8 MSC) was efficient from the floor, knocking down 55.1 percent of their shots including an 11-of-24 mark from beyond the arc. Lindsey Wilson finished the night with just three assists as the Bears managed 21. Three Blue Raiders finished in double figures as Reece Brooks managed 20, Payton Cundiff had 15 and Malik Hart finished with 10 points. Matthew Eldridge tallied eight points and a team-high seven rebounds. Lindsey Wilson was just 7-of-25 from the floor in the first half. After LWC managed a 6-5 lead after over four minutes of play, Pikeville took control of the game and never looked back. The Bears extended their lead to as many as 22 points at 32-10 with 6:21 to play. After taking a 42-23 lead at the break, Pikeville increased their lead to its largest of the game at 33 points at the 7:26 mark of the second stanza. Lindsey Wilson never had an answer for Pikeville's Jordan Perry who finished with a game-high 24 points as four other Bears finished in double figures. The Blue Raiders stay in the road for their next competition as they travel to Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday to take on the Shawnee State at 3 p.m. CT. This story was posted on 2020-02-07 06:15:23
